LOVE OF CHRIST 

Before we go deep let me first define the word LOVE and the LOVE OF CHRIST. 

LOVE is a profound and caring affection towards someone.

This LOVE I just defined above is the love of this earth, the love of mother to child, wife and husband, parents etc in this world. 

Now my area of concentration is the LOVE OF CHRIST. 

It is the  LOVE from above, the LOVE form God our creator towards humanity. 

That is why John 3:16 says-
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

You see it is God that LOVE us first, and that is why we use to sing it in our C&S hymn that.

This LOVE am taking about is the LOVE of Christ toward us that He use His blood to redeem us, that He transfered the righteous to us that we never deserve it, that He give the LIFE. 

That Jesus was nailed on the cross of calvary because of me and you, He was disgrace, beated in other to save us. 

Luke 23, Mathew 27:47-50, Luke 14, John
19:6-7, John 19:29-30.

And yet His still saying Father forgive them for they don't know what they are doing. 

This is the LOVE of Christ am taking about and that was why Jesus said on the cross that Father forgive them for they don't know what they are doing and He said it is finished. 

It is finished mean that the ministry has been accomplished, that He has made us more than conqueror. 

So it is to receive Him in our life, because anyone that did not receive Him will be condemned. 

John 3:17-18
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

And that is why the book of John 1:10-12 says - 
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.
11 He came to His own, c and His own d did not receive Him.
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

You see it is the sonship relationship that Jesus came to established by giving us the life of God so we can be a partaker of the kingdom of God. 

Because we have to inherent the kingdom and servant did not use to inherent anything but the son. 

And this is what others prophet lacked in the old testament and we are given freely now and some don't know Him, some don't receive Him yet. 

And this is the advantage that we have in this our generation.

This LOVE is more than what I can explain, the LOVE that make us to share equal right with Him. 
Romans 8:15-17

15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."
16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
17 and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Because the Lord has heard us in the acceptable time. 2cor 6:2
2 For He says: "In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you." Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

This is the LOVE of Christ to us that we have been saved.

Because preaching about the resurrection of Jesus is very powerful. 

That was why when Peter get to the house of Cornelius he was preaching the death and the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy spirit feel upon them all Acts 10:34-48.

See there is power in the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ 

So before I call it a day, it is this LOVE we need first before anything and that is why we sing it in our C&S hymn that ''MO TI NI JESU LORE YEBIYE FUN MI'. 

I want us to study this hymn very well, if we understand this hymn we will not have problems. 

This is the end of today's class, so we should be able to prepare fo for the retreat program starting tomorrow. 

We only get the LOVE that Christ have for us today but by next week we will talk about the LOVE that we need to show back to christ. 

If we have this we will not have any problem in our life.

IJEWO IGBAGBO IN C & S CHURCH One of our doctrine in C & S church is  THE CREED ( IJEWO IGBAGBO) .
