The theme for the retreat program  (SONG OF ZION / ORIN SIONI. PSALM 137:1-9) .
Facilitator: Alorite OLANREWAJU

Today is for introduction of SONG OF ZION / ORIN SIONI. PSALM 137:1-9.

Tomorrow and next tomorrow we will go deep and look how the story relate to us and learn something from it, but today I will just explain the whole chapter and song of zion.

The word SONG OF ZION is a special and holy song that is acceptable in praising the most high God, like our hymns and spiritual songs and not to song that some gospel musicians are taking from the world now. I mean real spiritual songs.

The word Psalm 137 in Hebrew is (Masoretic) numbering. For Psalm 137 in Greek Septuagint or Latin Vulgate numbering.

Now let unleash the whole verses by explaining it one after the other.

This Bible chapter is talking about the thing that occurred to the children of Israel "By the rivers of Babylon" in 12th century.

The psalm is a communal lament about being in exile after the Babylonia captivity, and yearning for Jerusalem. The psalm is a regular part of Jewish, Eastern Orthodox, Catholic, Lutheran, Anglican and other Protestant liturgies

It has been set to music often, and was paraphrased in hymns.

In its whole form of nine verses, the psalm reflects the yearning for Jerusalem as well as hatred for the Holy City's enemies with sometimes violent imagery.

For verse 1-3

1 By the rivers of Babylon, There we sat down, yea, we wept When we remembered Zion.
2 We hung our harps Upon the willows in the midst of it.
3 For there those who carried us away captive asked of us a song, And those who plundered us requested mirth, Saying, "Sing us one of the songs of Zion!"

This verses speaks of the “dark sprouts and black flowers,” i.e., the dark things (the sadness of exile) to which the Babylonians have given birth, rather than speaking of babies, and looking forward to the time when they are “dashed against the rock of faith.

This verses also talk about (slaughtering babies) like the full range of human emotion and bring that emotion into the presence of God.

Let look at the relate verses
Ezra 9:4 & Lamentations 1:7.

Ezra 9:4  Then everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel assembled to me, because of the transgression of those who had been carried away captive, and I sat astonished until the evening sacrifice.

Lamentation 1:7
In the days of her affliction and roaming, Jerusalem remembers all her pleasant things That she had in the days of old. When her people fell into the hand of the enemy, With no one to help her, The adversaries saw her And mocked at her downfall.

For verse 137:4
How shall we sing the Lord`s song In a foreign land?

The argument

For verse 137:4,   the theme of our program the song of zion which is also the Lord song or the song of the Lord.

Let look at the relate verses Psalm 46 & 48.

Psalm 48:1&14
1.  Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised In the city of our God, In His holy mountain.
14.  For this is God, Our God forever and ever; He will be our guide Even to death.

Psalm 46 is talking about fear not because the Lord is Lord of host and He is with us.

137:1-4 Their enemies had carried the Jews captive from their own land. To complete their woes, they insulted over them; they required of them mirth and a song. This was very barbarous; also profane, for no songs would serve but the songs of Zion. Scoffers are not to be compiled with. They do not say, How shall we sing, when we are so much in sorrow? but, It is the Lord's song, therefore we dare not sing it among idolaters.

Psalm 137:5-6
5 If I forget you, O Jerusalem, Let my right hand forget its skill!
6 If I do not remember you, Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth-- If I do not exalt Jerusalem Above my chief joy.

Is talking about praises also with vow, like our pledge ( I pledge to Nigeria my country)

For verse 7-9.
7 Remember, O Lord, against the sons of Edom The day of Jerusalem, Who said, "Raze it, raze it, To its very foundation!"
8 O daughter of Babylon, who are to be destroyed, Happy the one who repays you as you have served us!
9 Happy the one who takes and dashes Your little ones against the rock!

When Psalm 137 says happy are those who bash the enemy’s infants against the rocks, he claimed that it meant to dash your sins against the rocks of reason.

Like this hymn, Apata ayeraye verse three.

Ko si ohun ti mo mu wa,
Mo ro mo agbelebu,
Mo wa ki o da aso bo mi,
Mo nwo o fu iranwo,
Mo wa sibi orisun ni,
We mi, olugbala mi.

 DAY TWO

We will look into zion for today on how it relate us and us and the whole chapter in another dimension.

Psalm 137

Verse
1. Zion is know to be a place of Joy, a place where the joy of the Lord radiates on his people. In this verse, it is said that by the rivers of Babylon, we wept when we remember Zion.

The question now is, how many people especially alore can remembers that we have a home of joy (heaven) somewhere???

How many people remembers that after our journey on this Earth, we will still go back to our Zion???

If we remember this and it pains us to the heart, we won't misbehave with what we are carrying. Knowing fully well that we are a carrier of God's grace.

Because many time people watch us and learn from us.

There's a level of water that when one carries, they won't be able to stop on the road to even say Hi to a friend.
So also, we shouldn't mess up with what we carry.
God's grace on us shouldn't be misused.

V2.

On no circumstance should we stop or keep quiet with what Christ has deposited in us.

Now take a look at it.
They hung their tool of worship on a tree

We should not hang what we will use to glorify our God or fail to use it.
As an Alorite, you have a message for the church or another person, fear, shame or anything shouldn't debar us from glorifying God and letting people glorify God through us.

We shouldn't let challenges make us visit where is not.
A lot of c&s prophets, Alore, chorister etc, you'll see them at a paraga joint or beer parlor singing and chanting hayah.
Some will sing at home when doing chores that you'll be hearing their voice in the 3rd Street but let them get to church, pride will not make them sing.

From the verse 5 downward, is a charge for everyone to restrategize and make reconciliation with the Messiah.

Paul said, I am doomed if I preach not the gospel.
John said, I will do the will of him that send me while it is day, the night cometh when no man can work.
Matthew said, seek the first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all other things will be added.

We need to make an oath with our creator that we will never fail Him and pray towards it because we can't do it by our will but by the will of God.

THE END

 DAY THREE

We will look into the theme for the program today which is SONGS OF ZION & PSALM 137, but today we will take the verse from 9-1 like from down to the top.

Because we are going forward, so we are starting from the ground to the apex because we must be at the top.

Verse 9-7

According to the verse from verse nine to seven relating to songs of Zion, you know we have a lot of repentance and redeemer songs that when we sing the holy spirit come down and Alorite gives messages.

The songs like:

Ko si ohun ti mo mu wa,
Mo ro mo agbelebu,
Mo wa ki o da aso bo mi,
Mo nwo o fu iranwo,
Mo wa sibi orisun ni,
We mi, olugbala mi.

Baba darijmi oo Jesu,
Mi o ni se be mo,
Esu lo mumi da ese.

Now the question is when we sing those songs, are they really changing our life.

You know there is a different between me singing spiritual song just to pass time or people should see me that I usually sing spiritual songs and singing with spirit and reasoning with the words in the song and making a change in our life.

In another dimension for verse 7:

What are the part you are taking in the church, are you gathering or chasing away members with bad attitude in the church, are you wise or the other side.

Proverbs 10: 5  He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.

Now let me divers it into Another way called service before services.
As an Alorite go to church early and do some work in the church before the service start, invite people to the church, win more soul to the body of Christ.

Start now, and I will know if you have start by inviting people to this group, is also part of it, don't just receive the sermon there alone, invite people to also benefit from it.

Jesus said He has came to serves and not to be serve. (math 20:28) so if Jesus said so what are we waiting for?

And that was why Jesus told the twelve disciples that if anyone would be the first, he must be last of all and servant of all.
(Mark 9:35) as a leader in the church this is what Jesus said.

Verse 6-5

Let look at this in the aspect of covenant, a lot of people make covenant that they can't keep which is very wrong, even God don't give us what we can not do because through Jesus all this are possible.

Did you remember when the Lord told Moses to build Ark of covenant, He did not tell Moses to force people to bring or to make covenant.
Exod 25:1-2

Verse 4

Now we look to this verse in this dimension:

Everything you're supposed to do to glorify God and you're doing it for another purpose is still the same as singing the song of Zion in a foreign land

You heard a gospel song in church and fail to dance but on hearing the beat of an hip-hop on the road, you jump up, scream and started dancing, you're singing the song of Zion in a foreign land.

Verse 3-1

Let look into this verse John 9:1-5

1 Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth.
2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"
3 Jesus answered, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.
4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

You we have had a lot of story that Saint Moses Orimolade did when Baba was on earth but why did we think that blind can't see now are days and the Jesus want us to do more than He do.

If you remember in the book of (Mark 4:37-41) the Apostles are like this our generation because even if you don't have faith call unto Jesus, Jesus with you always.

Now I want you to hung all the wrong thought like (ETO, IRAPADA AND IBORI... ) anything more than psalm, water, holy oil, prayer and fasting is not accepted, and pick up the revival instrument which is the holy Bible, look unto Jesus the author and the finisher of our faith.

Yes the Lord revealed a vision that the power is back, He was looking for someone to use for a long time but He should not see, He said this to me in book of (Ezekiel 22:30) , but now He said He have started using youth to rebuild the broken wall.

The work start now speak with faith and preach the gospel with boldness.

The scripture says and it like a dream when the Lord returned the loss of zion.

C&S story is just like Israelite story, very soon now all this Ark of covenant will no be see no more (Jeremiah 3:16) we are the generation of Israel in Africa let lift the glory of God and not Ark of covenant, what is the glory of God? Jesus is the glory of God.

Jesus said if I am lifted up here on earth, I will draw all people to myself (John 12:32)

Let lift the name of the Lord high.
