Note to Students: You can do almost everything you need on the Free Version (GPT-3.5 or GPT-4o mini). Do not feel pressured to pay for "Plus" when you are just starting. The free version is more than powerful enough to change your life today.

Think of Gemini (formerly Bard) as your Research Assistant. Because it is made by Google, its superpower is that it is connected to the live internet.

If you ask ChatGPT about an event that happened yesterday, it might not know (depending on the model). If you ask Gemini, it will Google it instantly and give you the answer with links.

 *Best Used For:* 

Fact-Checking: "What is the current exchange rate?" or "Who won the game last night?"

Travel & Local Info: "Plan a trip to Lagos with current flight prices."

Here is a pro tip that most beginners miss. You don't have to choose just one. The best workflow often uses both.

The Workflow Example:

Start with Gemini: Use it to find facts.

Prompt: "Find me 3 trending news stories about sustainable food in Nigeria."

Move to ChatGPT: Use it to write the content.

Action: Copy the facts Gemini gave you and paste them into ChatGPT.

Prompt: "Take these 3 news stories and write an engaging Instagram caption about them for my Fufu flour business."

This is a common question, so address it early to put them at ease.

"Many of you are worried about privacy. Here is the golden rule: Do not put sensitive personal secrets into AI."

It is safe to ask for email templates.

It is safe to brainstorm business ideas.

Do NOT put your bank passwords, BVN, or confidential medical records into a public AI chat. Treat it like a public library safe to use, but don't leave your wallet on the table.

Since we talked about quality earlier, introduce the concept of "Humanizers" here briefly as a tool for the toolbox.

"Finally, sometimes these tools sound a bit... robotic. They might use words like 'delve' or 'tapestry' too much. Later in this course (Day 3), I will show you tools that 'humanize' this text so nobody will ever know you used AI. But for today, we focus on generating the raw ideas."

Email Management: We will cover how to draft professional responses to angry customers, inquiries, or sponsorship pitches.

Example Prompt: "A customer is angry that their Fufu flour delivery is late. Write a polite, empathetic apology email, offer them a 10% discount on their next order, and reassure them it is on the way."

Administrative Organization: We will look at how AI can organize messy thoughts. You can speak your raw, unorganized ideas into the tool and ask it to "Turn this brain dump into a clean To-Do list organized by priority."

Introducing the 80/20 Rule: AI does 80% of the heavy lifting (the structure, the research, the initial draft). You must do the final 20% (the editing, the personality, the fact-checking).

If you copy and paste directly from AI without reading it, you risk sounding robotic and losing trust. We use AI to get us most of the way there, but we always add our "human touch" at the end. This sets the stage for future classes where we will discuss "humanizing" content in more depth.
