WISDOM FOR STUDENTS

Congratulations for your admission into the higher institution. Welcome to a new phase in the factory of making a better future. 

I have a few word for you as you press on in your studies. 

The earlier you know it, the better for you. 

1. THE ADMISSION YOU GOT IS A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY

There are millions of people out there who are craving for such opportunity no matter how hard they fast and pray alongside reading and working. 

Many of your colleagues are into menial jobs out there not because they do not wish to further their education but because their capacity did not open the gate of opportunity for them because of finance, score or connection. So, no matter how easy or hard your admission is, don't misuse the opportunity. 

2. STUDIES WILL BE CUMBERSOME:

Unlike your primary and secondary school days when you can just pick up your book a day to the exam to read and you'll pass, flying colour in the higher institution requires a heightened level of G.P to a attain it and for that, hard work is essential. So, you need to study hard and start reading even before you smell your exam timetable.

3. NOT ALL LECTURERS ARE GODFEARING:

No matter how interesting or gaiety school life is with your course of study, there is always a lecturer who use to be more like a devil's incarnate; they don't care whether you grasp their teaching, they're not bothered even if you carry over their course, theirs is always a triangular face concern: • You must buy handout • You must come early of lecture room to write attendance • You must submit assignment. 

These set of lecturers will want you to give them the best in the exam and your best is always a beautiful nonsense to them. Be careful with these set of lecturers because if you have issues with them, your flying colour is already on red niyen - Danger looms.

4. YOU'RE A SOLDIER IN TRAINING:

Always be at alert for lecturer's impromptu classes. You can't escape that in the higher institution. Some will not show up until exam is few weeks then, they'd start demanding for early morning classes, others, night classes and few minutes lateness will deprive you from entering the class and your name will not be in the attendance. If you're not careful, this will affect your Grade Point so, be at alert for emergency classes. This isn't secondary school where all classes including extra classes will be according to teachers and students agreement.

5. EVERYDAY ISN'T CHRISTMAS:

Always prepare student's life support (Garri). E get why o!

All days cannot be rosy so, even if you're still loaded with cool cash now, try to have Garri in store. 

When students come back freshly to campus, they're always well loaded from home and they'd be eating full chickens; gradually they'd start taking chicken parts like chicken laps, chicken wings... Later, they'd start taking things produced by chicken (eggs), afterwards, when the condition don reach main point, na wetin chicken dey chop them go dey chop sef, things like corn, Garri...

Store Garri in your hostel, I repeat, store Garri in your hostel. E GET WHY OOOOO!

6. NOBODY OWE YOU ANYTHING:

You're in school to build your career, future, dream, vision, ambition and most of all, your destiny.

The fact that you have a rich uncle or aunty doesn't mean they MUST give you pocket money or whatever you ask them. So, if they disappoint you by failing their promises, don't pick offenses.

Listen! People can promise and fail you in school, don't pick offenses with anyone; they may choose to help you with your dream or career and they may choose not to especially when they don't see a brighter future in the structure of your academic picture. 

And please, always show gratitude to those who give to when you're in school, no matter how small it is because you don't know the stress and sweat it cost them to get it and besides, they have their own career to build too. Finally,

7. DON'T GIVE UP AND DON'T RELENT:

The level you are today is by the grace of God and the help of others - Your parents, extended families, friends and loved ones. 

A lot of people believe in you that you'll make them proud one day, some are sowing a seed into your destiny by supporting you one way or the other in your education beached they don't have the opportunity to get there and some because they know what it takes as they've passed through the stage before so they are giving you to motivate you so that when you finally make it, you can help others make it too and  some are helping you because they see a brighter future ahead of you. 

Don't fail God!

Don't fail your parents!

Don't disappoint those who believe in you!

Don't let your generation and those coming after you down. 

Your success is very important to this generation because the rising of many great leaders are tied to your success. So, no matter the storm, challenges or trial, do not give up. 

Just keep moving!

Don't relent and don't lose focus. 

The world awaits your manifestation.
